Back from the Okanagan Valley

Oi! I can't believe it's Thursday already!

You know what they say, you can't go away without paying the price for it. lol I've been a little on the busy side since getting back to the Metro, but things are starting to slow a bit down so I can focus on blogging and getting some crafting done for next week's Whimsie Release!

I thought I'd share some peak point photos of the weekend. These were taken just after 1pm and the sun was at the most harsh light so keep that in mind. We overlooked Okanagan Lake. If you remember my previous post, I showed a photo (borrowed image from the internet) that looked towards the city and the photos I have here are looking out towards the Lake.

I have to tell you how silly I really am - the best $1 I spent this whole weekend was this bubble wand! I let the wind carry these large bubbles everywhere we went! LOL This is my inner 6 year old taking over. Although it was quite windy up on the mountains, at the time the above photo was taken - there was no wind and no bubbles! :(

Have no fear, I had to resort to manual bubble blowing. lol!

For those of you who voted for Team Sunny Patch in the Greeting Farm Battle, I wanted to thank you! Although we didn't make it into the finals, we were so happy to have been challenged and participate in the contest.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Thursday!

Whimsie Wednesday: Earth Day Challenge and Digi Giveaway

Welcome to another Whimsie Wednesday!

This week, I'm the hostess (with the mostest) over at Whimsie Doodle's Paper Craft Planet Challenge. April 22 is Earth Day so this week, I'm challenging you to create a project revolving around this theme.

What does Earth Day mean to you? How are you reducing your ecological foot print?
I'm challenging you to create a project to promote helping our Earth. Things you could do are:
  • use a recycled item on your project from around your house
  • have a reduce, reuse, recycle message
  • incorporate a save Earth message (using the WD stamp - see below)
  • paint or stamp with household objects
  • make a project with only scraps and as many scraps as you can using earthy stuff
  • use earthy colors
  • incorporate all of the above into one?
At Whimsie Doodles, we believe in reducing our ecological footprint hence why most of our images are digi! To help spread the message, we're going to be giving away our Save Earth digi for a limited time.

Please click HERE for your download.

I hope that you can join me in helping to save our Earth. I look forward to seeing what you make. Don't forget to upload your creation at the PCP Challenge and let me know here as well. If you upload your creation to any online galleries, be sure to use the keywords whimsiedoodles and WWC28.

Thanks for stopping by today! GO GREEN!!

Whimsie Doodles: Paws I Care Update

G'day friends. It's a gorgeous sunny day here in the Metro Vancouver area. Hope you're all having a great Thursday. I wanted to quickly say thanks for all your votes for TGF's Battle - The Sunny Patch has moved on to Week 4. To read all about the challenge, click here.

My post for today showcases the Paws I Care set from Whimsie Doodles. Melyssa created this set to help out our fur friends over at her local S.P.C.A (animal shelter). All sales from the Paws set go to the S.P.C.A. Yesterday, Melyssa was able to donate a cheque in the amount of $450!! This was possible because of sales from you - way to go!!! You can read all about it here on the WD blog.

My card uses Mercy's sketch from last week (MTSC68). Eeks. Gotta run - will be back later to write more about the card deets. Ciao for now!

Mermaid Glimmer Mist ATCs

Hello friends. I hope you had a good Monday. I definitely struggled getting out of bed and had to take a nap after work. lol

My project for today are Glimmer Mist ATCs that I exchanged in a swap over at the Stamp Shack. While I absolutely adore Glimmer Mist, I only have a few selected colours and chose an ocean theme featuring this mermaid stamp from The Old Island Stamp Company.

As you can see, I may be doing more "vintage" projects, but I still stick with my bright colours. You can't rain down on this bright sprout! lol
Thanks so much for stopping by! xo

Ink - Ranger, Colorbox

TGF Battle - Week 2 and Easter Silk Tie Eggs

G'day, friends! I hope you all had a great Easter weekend. Mine was totally mellow and I got lots of cleaning done. My household (includes my roommate, guests and myself) silk tie dyed some eggs on Sunday and you can see that below. I also linked you to the inspiration in case you're interested in trying next year.

For now, I wanted to talk about my card that I made for The Greeting Farm's Battle of the Design Teams. Over at TGF, they're holding this contest/battle where a bunch of teams (around 60) are participating in challenges for 5 weeks. Each week, a team member of the group creates a card for the challenge of the week and are voted out by the public.

My team is called The Sunny Patch and the members are Joni, Melyssa, Sheri and myself. This week's challenge was to create an easel card and so I made this nostalgic Alice in Wonderland theme card. I've been meaning to do something Wonderland since the Tim Burton version came out. I've always been intrigued in how she gets lost in the forest and meets with all these different characters. I've always imagined Wonderland bright and beautiful so that's where the inspiration came from.

If you think my card deserves your vote, please leave a comment at the gallery HERE. That will count as your vote and Team Sunny Patch will move on to Week 3. Thanks so much! :)

Below are the silk tie dyed eggs I mentioned earlier. This was the first year I've done eggs this way and I think this will always be the way I decorate eggs in the future because it's SO simple and there's really no mess! The original idea did come from the Martha Stewart site, but I first saw them here on Wendy's blog. Wendy and her daughter also made a new batch for Easter 2010 as well.

Thanks for stopping by and your vote in the TGF Battle! It always means a lot. :)

Supplies:
Stamps - The Greeting Farm's Wonderland digi set
Paper - Berry Sweet patterned paper(K and Company), Bazzill and DCWV cardstock
Ink - Creamy brown (Colorbox)
Accessories - Copic markers, rub ons (K and Company), pocket watch chipboard and Glimmer Mist(Tattered Angels), leafy branch die cut (Sizzix), oval die cuts (Spellbinder's Nestabilities), scallop lace border punch(Martha Stewart), pink rhinestone gems (Recollections), blue flowers (Prima), orange gingham ribbon (unknown), white gel pen

Ahh... spring and babies!

TGIThursday!!!

Yippie for the Easter long weekend, I need it. What are your plans this weekend, do you have traditions that you do every year? I think my roommate and I plan on silk tie-dying some Easter eggs... I'll post about that if we're successful.

I finally was able to finish off my post from last week with the cherry card. LOL I got so caught up in my posting that I wasn't watching the time and I had to run. Oops.
For today's post - can you tell that I have some babies coming on the way? I have several friends who have just had or are expecting. The couple that is still expecting doesn't know the gender of their baby and so I need to whip up a "girl" card as well soon.

I wanted to keep the cards fairly simple but with a little bit of bling. I don't think you can see the glitter in the photo though. :(

Have a fantastic weekend!
Supplies:
Stamps - "Welcome, baby" sentiment from Stampin Up
Paper - DCWV and Stampin Up
Ink - Stampin Up and Colorbox
Accessories - Chipboard rocket, airplane, stars (Martha Stewart), scalloped lace punch (Martha Stewart), dew drops, Stickles glitter glue
