Skates for Christmas

Tuesday, Tuesday, 4 days til’ Halloween!!! Oh my goodness, a real post from me – it’s been days.. Rarrrr! This past weekend was suppose to be one with “no commitments; rest and relax,” but I ended up catching up on all the things I have put off around the house!

I’m really excited for this coming Halloween, my roommate and I will be throwing a party this Saturday and we have been prepping little things for the big day. We put up most of our decorations last night and the rest will have to wait for Friday and Saturday.

I made this card last week using Mercy’s #44 sketch (MTSC44), but haven’t had a chance to post until now. The image and sentiment are Whimsie Doodle’s Skates for Christmas (yes, I realize that it’s a Christmas card and not Halloween lol). It’s a simple card; I wanted the ribbon to compliment the laces in the skates. Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by – I really do appreciate it.

Supplies: Paper - Stampin Up cardstock and Reminisce patterned paper. Ink – Pigment pink. Accessories – Copic markers, dew drops, Stampin Up ribbon, Sakura glitter pen.

Sisterhood of the Travelling Whimsie

Whimsie wants to see the world!

Beginning today and lasting through November 25th, we would love for you to visit the Whimsie Doodles website, and download your picture of Whimsie, all decked out in her tourist gear. This is just something fun that we DT members have dubbed “Sisterhood of the Traveling Whimsie”, and what we’re doing is taking pictures of Whimsie with us, doing all kinds of things around the globe! Our DT is spread out over three different countries (and there are only 8 of us!), so we thought it would be fun to see just where our little Whimsie could go, and what kind of things she could do in a month.

You can upload your pictures to our special album on Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/whereswhimsie, or on our Whimsie Doodles page at Paper Craft Planet. (Or both if you are feeling ambitious).

BC's Creative Expo

Yippie, it's Thursday! What a busy past weekend I had; been meaning to blog about my experience at the Creative Expo, but was preoccupied for Whimsie Doodle's Hope Fights Launch (she's free until tomorrow and after that, all proceeds from sales will go towards breast cancer research).

I just wanted to thank all the ladies I got to meet at the event. This is the second time I've been and I can't even contain my excitement for next year's event! It was tiring because I was there from 9am to 9pm on October 17, but it was so worth it.

Here are the highlights of my day:

This project was from Trisha Ladouceur's Tattered Angels class

I was able to grab a photo with Trisha at the end of the day and oh boy, we were both exhausted! Thanks for the good laughs and stories you shared.

My next class was a Vintage Christmas box and cards with Vicki Chrisman and assisting Vicki was Sandy Redburn, the owner of Crafty Secrets. No joke, Vicki talks exactly like she types! She's so charming and sweet. She's dedicated as well - she had a post up the day after the Expo! It was nice to meet you, my American Crunchie loving friend. ;)

To end the night, I took a class with Vicki Boutin. I've always enjoyed browsing Vicki's blog and seeing her bright layouts and cards. I also got to meet her sweet mom who helps out each and every show. Thanks for making it through to the last class, Vicki - with a cold and all!

I also dropped a quick hello to my friend Lisa Strahl who happened to be teaching in the room next door.

What I learned from this day was that I just need to get in there with my hands and get messy; the outcome is beautiful. Thanks again to everyone who shared their ideas and laughs.

Whimsie Doodle's Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Melyssa at Whimsie Doodles has created a new digistamp and sentiment to help support breast cancer research.

Her name is Hope Fights, and we think she represents the pink ribbon campaign in a fantastic way. Hope is FREE from today (October 21st) through Friday, October 23rd, on the Whimsie Doodles website. After Friday, there will be a charge, with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer Research. Melyssa has decided to share her for free for a couple of days so that we can get as many people to participate as possible! In fact, Hope is our Whimsie Wednesday challenge at Paper Craft Planet ttoday. So download Hope, tell your friends, and come play along for a good cause if you can!

Today is also the day for our Whimise Doodles sketch challenge on the Whimsie Blog. Share your creation on our BLOG using the sketch provided and you'll be entered to win a free digi! If you're like us and you like to combine challenges, feel free to combine your Hope image with the sketch challenge!

Supplies: Paper - Stampin Up cardstock and patterned paper. Ink: Colorbox chalk. Accessories - Copic markers, corsage pin, Prima and CTMH flowers, rhinestone gems, corner punch, buttons, ribbons.

Thanks for playing along with us today on our very first Whimsie Doodles blog hop! You should have come to me from Nikki's blog.

For the blog hop, the DT members chose their favourite image from the entire collection (that was very hard to do for most of us) and design a project. My pick was Pumpkin Bear because he is so fitting for the month of October. The sketch was provided by Mercy's Sketch Challenge #43 (MTSC43).

Your next stop on the hop is the Whimsie Doodles blog. In case you get lost along the way, here is the order:

Be sure to finish your hop at the Whimsie Doodles blog and let us know that you’ve made the rounds! Once you leave us a comment and let us know that you have visited everyone, you will be entered in the BIG KAHUNA of all blog hop give-aways….read it slowly…breathe deeply….take it all in…. Melyssa is giving one lucky blog hopper one of every single stamp in the Whimsie Doodles store! Good luck!

Love is all you need - Fluttering butterflies

Happy Tuesday, friends! My weekend went by so quickly... I want more time to sleep in! lol

This is an old card I forgot to show back in April - it was for my best friend's wedding and I was her maid of honour. I know that I wanted to make a "softer" card without using too many bright colours. Luckily my friend's favourite colour is pink and I totally wasn't thinking of her husband. lol We all know that weddings are all about the bride, right?

Thanks for stopping by today.

Supplies - Stamps: CTMH Sentiment, Paper: Reminisce, Bazzill cardstock. Ink: Memento, Colorbox Chalk. Accessories: organza ribbon, polka dot ribbon, Spellbinder's Nestabilities Ovals, dew drops, Quickutz butterfly die cut, corner rounder punch.
