Whimsie PCP Challenge - I'm Dreaming of .... a Summer Paradise

Happy Hump Day!!! Even though I'm going in for surgery, I scheduled this post to go up today because I'm the host of this week's Whimsie Doodles Paper Craft Planet Challenge.

I dunno about you, but I come from Vancouver, BC and am definitely getting the Winter Blues. It rains here for the next several months until about March. We may get the occasional snow, but it rarely sticks. To get rid of my blues and possibly yours too, I challenge you to take off with me into paradise where the sand is white and the water sparkling blue.

Make a project using a Whimsie summer image to help make my summer dreams come true! You have until next Tuesday night (November 24th to post your creations).

For some inspiration, stop by the Whimsie Doodle Summer Fun Gallery.

Don't forget that during this challenge, our Design Team will be choosing their favorite Whimsie Doodles creation and inviting the creative mind behind it to join us for the month of December as our Guest Designer! We'll let you know who we choose at the beginning of next week's challenge! We are so excited to see what you come up with!!

Did you note that my card uses Mercy's Sketch #48? I always look forward to using her sketches and she was so sweet to show me a peek for this challenge when I was creating the card on Tuesday :) Thanks Mercy!

Thanh going in for Septoplasty Surgery

Hi friends!

I didn't mention this until now because I didnt think it was going to be a big deal until a coworker pulled me aside and asked me if I knew what I was getting myself into. I have a deviated septum and super bad allergies, it was deemed a year ago that I should get this nose surgery done to help me breathe better and it may help my allergies.

I'm not going to go into the procedure (you curious ones can Google it), but what I thought would be "5 days post op recovery" is going to be about 10 and I will be in much pain (thank goodness for drugs) and in much of a daze due to the general anesthesia. I have to admit that I am freaked out and I will need your thoughts and hugs to help me come out of this fine. I am expecting the worse, although I'm not quite sure what that might be yet.

My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow and you probably won't be hearing from me for awhile. I do have an auto post set up as I'm hosting the Paper Craft Planet Whimsie Challenge. So make sure you stop by tomorrow to have a boo at my creation, it was so much fun to create!
Hope to be on here soon. xoxo

Donna's Whimsie Paper Craft Planet Challenge

Happy Monday! Did everyone had a good weekend - Surprised to hear from me so soon again?

I have a lot of things that I need to get done this week before something happens on Wednesday... I'll leave that for you to read in my next post.

I wanted to show off my little project I made with the November 11th Paper Craft Planet Challenge. It was hosted by my fellow Whimsie Doodle DT member Donna; she challenged us to make a Christmas altered project.

I decided to make a Christmas tree ornament with the Kissmas Ginger image as well as the Whimsie Cut Mitten

I this this was the first time on my own project (without following a class) that I used Flower Soft. It really does add some great dimension if you are going for that rougher look or making flowers look authentic on a paper project! I only said rougher because you can also use Fun Flock or Liquid Appliqué for a softer fluffy feel.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I will post more on what I mentioned above either later today or early tomorrow.

Supplies: Paper - Imaginisce Polar Expressions patterned paper. Ink - Versacolor. Accessories - Copic markers, organdy ribbon and stitched ribbon from Michaels, black felt pen, red heart brad, Stickles glitter glue (Stardust), Fiskars tag punch.

Whimsie Doodles Release Day

I'm a little late in posting this, but today is another Whimsie Doodles Release Day! Yep, the Holiday Season is definitely here. I know that Christmas always sneaks up on me and I am just so darn happy that these darling images are my motivation in getting my cards done for this year.

So without further ado, I present a Tweet Holiday (above) and Penguin Muffin Top (below). For the Tweet Holiday card, I used Taylor's Sketch #91. Note that I also added some Liquid Appliqué to Whimsie's Hat and boots to add some dimension and make the clothes look fuzzy!

Don't forget to stop by the Whimsie Blog and see what the other DT members made using the new images.

Ingredients: Paper - Stampin Up and Bazzill cardstock, My Mind's Eye patterned paper. Ink - Versacolor Pigment (Chestnut brown). Accessories - Copic markers, white ink pen, Spellbinder's Circle Nestablities, Sizzix Branch w/ leaves die, rhinestones, dew drops, Stickles glitter glue (Stardust).

Halloween 2009

What do you get with two roommates who love Halloween and threw a party? One great party!

Our theme

The everyday hero coming home from work ;)

One of three tables of food...

Cauldron cupcakes courtesy of the Roommate

It's a showdown... will it be Jack or Bear?

Whoooooo??

I generally don't post photos of people without their permission, so no other costumes are shown... but we had leprechauns, Voldemort and a Death Eater, a dog, a bat to name a few.

Thanks for taking the time to view our Halloween fun! xoxo

Whimsie PCP Challenge #5

I am amazed that another week has started! This past one sure has been busy and I am just catching up with everything now. I hope that everyone had a great weekend.

I just wanted to remind you that Joni is currently the host for Whimsie Doodles Paper Craft Planet Challenge. The challenge is to use 2 different images (or sentiments) from differing sets and to create a project incorporating the two.

My card uses the fish from the Fish Tales set (which is not a Christmas set) and the sentiment from Kissmas Ginger. Yes, I am proud of myself for using a non Christmas image for a Christmas card ;) I am still trying to find the time to upload my photos from the Halloween party; hopefully tomorrow! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Supplies: Paper - Stampin Up cardstock and Basic Gray patterned paper. Ink - Versacolor pigment. Accessories - Copic markers, Stampin Up Top Note die, Fiskars tag punch, $1 Michaels heart punch, dew drops and grosgrain ribbon.

Whimsie Doodles Release Day

Hi friends! It's already that time again. I do have to say that this release day sort of sneaked up on me - I had made my projects and set my peeks on time, but due to the Halloween party I hosted with my roommate, didn't get this post up until now.

How was your Halloween? Did you dress up? I will show you photos of mine later this week ;)

Getting back to the Whimsie Doodles release, this time Melyssa released three differing sets to gear up for the Holiday season. I'm showing off the Get Stuffed and Olive & Toasty images.

Isn't this little turkey adorable? And look, he's going to be eating some pumpkin pie! Our Canadian Thanksgiving has passed, but I will be sending this card down south in time for my American friends. The card sketch is a slightly altered version of Mercy's Sketch #45 (MTSC45).

This was my favourite image of all the new releases! I just adore penguins (who doesn't). I picked up this package of My Mind's Eye paper a few weeks back because of all the bright non-traditional colours and was waiting for the right image to use. With the bright colours, I felt that it also needed lots of bling so I added all those rhinestones and glitter glue to accent the fresh feel of this card. The card sketch I used is from Mojo Monday's Week 110.

Thanks for stopping by and I will be back soon with a post-party entry. <3

Olive & Toasty: Paper - My Mind's Eye and Stampin Up cardstock. Accessories - Copic markers, Spellbinder's Nestabilities, Stickles glitter glue, rhinestone gems, Quickutz snowflake die cut, Stampin Up ribbon, black marker, white gel pen.
