Whimsie Doodles Release Day

First off, I wanted to wish all my fellow Canadians a Happy 142nd Canada Day! I always say this each and every year, but I'm so grateful to be living in a country that is diverse and free of war.

Today also marks the Whimsie Doodles Release Day!! You will find the digital images the Design Team has been posting the last week all available at the Etsy store. Haven't tried digital stamping? The images are really affordable and you get them within 24 hours - no waiting for the company to ship your products and post office delays. Give it a try with one of the Whimsie Doodles images!

This card features one of the images and sentiments from the Kitchen Gingers set. You can see one of the other images in my previous post. I've also used the same patterned papers from Stampin Up and colour scheme.

The sketch I followed is from The Fresh Batch's Sketch Challenge No. 21. I am loving the weekly sketches these ladies provide. I've included the original sketch so you can play along as well.

Thanks for stopping by, have a happy Wednesday!

Whimsie Sneak Peek: Ginger Greetings

Ginger greetings, friends! Isn't this Whimsie Doodles image just darling?!!! That really wasn't a question, more of a statement, lol. Now first of let me admit that I'm not a fan of actual gingerbread cookies, but heck I am all over how cute they look and how easily you can decorate them! Plus that little guy from Shrek was so cheeky that I fell in love.

Hope I'm getting you pumped for the Whimsie Doodles July 1st release! This image comes from the Kitchen Gingers set which has two other gingerbread images and will be available for purchase on that day.

The sketch used for this card comes from Amy's Friday Sketch. Thanks Amy! Sketches are my best friend, lol.

Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper and ink-Stampin Up, Stamps-Whimsie Doodles Kitchen Gingers and Button Sentiments, Other-Ranger Ink white pen, Copic Markers, Nestablities, Dollar store button.

Sneak Peek: Puddle Jumper

Happy Tuesday!

I am so ecstatic to show you today's Whimsie Doodles sneak peek!!! It's a sunny day here in Metro Vancouver, so no puddles of rain anywhere here. I was laughing to myself last night as I made this card because I am only using a portion of the image, almost making it a sneak peek in itself. Without further ado:

Apologies for the not so good photo, by the time I took this photo, it was late!

For the layout, I played along with The Fresh Batch's sketch number 20 this week. The highlight of this card is the Dazzling Diamonds 3-d adhesive that I used to make the puddle and the "rain" in the sentiment look "wet." I'll have to get back to you about the patterned paper... I forgot the company that makes it. Edited 6/30/09: The company is EK Success~

Look! I also remembered to take a photo of the Copics I used:

Whimsie: Sneak Peek Before the Sneak Peaks...

Happy Monday! Did everyone have a good weekend?

How's that for a title! Tonight is a "working night" meaning that I will be getting my butt into gear to play along with Melyssa and the other DT members of Whimsie Doodles Designs. So many new images, so little time! :P

Mark your calendars for July 1st when these images come out. Did you get your free image yet as seen in the previous post? What are you waiting for - it's a free image!

Enjoy the rest of your day and see you tomorrow.

Free: Whimsie Doodles Turtle

Good day, friends. Thank you so much for your well wishes yesterday! :) Today I am showing off the stamp that was the beginning of Whimsie Doodles. This adorable turtle (Whimsie) is currently being offered by Melyssa at no charge. That's right, Whimsie is for free! Click here for instructions on how to download.

For this card, I wanted to colour Whimsie with non traditional turtle colours and so I picked out this old Stampin Up paper set. I coloured her with Copic markers, but can't remember which colours I used (sorry). If you look closely, she is up on dimensionals... I wanted her to be the main focus of the card and I am quite pleased with the way she sits. The sentiment is from Stampin Up.

Does the card layout look familiar... I used the The Fresh Batch's number 19 sketch from last Thursday. This was my first time participating and I'm looking forward to the sketch tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and have a yummy day. :)

An Overdue Post and Father's Day

Hi friends;

Thanks for joining me today. I know it's been awhile and yes, I know I have a tendency to "hide" when things get busy for me. Just to name some things that I have been going through: returning from Vietnam and getting back into the hang of things, moving and being the maid of honour for my girlfriend's wedding! I am definitely less busy now and am looking forward to interacting with my friends and readers again. I'll have to show you the trip and wedding photos in another post (hang tight lol), right now I want to show off one of my latest creations.

This is one of the Father's Day cards I made for this Sunday. It's funny because I still need to make my own dad a card! Don't worry, I'm going to try and work on that tonight! I used the sketch provided by Taylor on her blog. The bulk of the products used are Stampin Up's cardstock, patterned papers, and stamps. This image comes from the retired Seaside Sketches set. The sentiment is from Great Impressions. I coloured the image with my Faber Castell watercolour pencils and used a water brush to blend the colours. I've been so engrossed with Copics lately; I forgot how much fun it is to colour with watercolours. I like the undefined lines.
